Last year we got to ski with travelers from 19 different countries. We had a lot of fun and received good feedback, so there was no doubt that next season we will have to grow. At the same time, Lapland is getting more popular and more accessible due to an increasing number of direct flights, among other things. We are, of course, thrilled about it, as we don't believe in gatekeeping magical places! However, rise in popularity also poses certain challenges, most serious of which are the availability of services and increasing prices.

We appreciate the trust of our guests, who have decided to depart to the edge of the world with us during the last few years. In order for that trust to persist, we want to stay transparent. In this short blog post we are going to (tell about) explain all the key planning decisions we made for the 2027 season.

What's new in 2027?

Learning from last year's feedback, in the coming season we are focusing on sustaining the level of service, sustainable business operations and opening new destinations.

Last year we heard many good things about the quality and level of organisation we were able to provide. While we want to keep growing, we don't want to do it at the expense of quality. The cottage will still be as comfortable as before, quality of food only improve, the transportation smoother than ever, and most importantly, travellers will be protect and safer.

Most excitingly, we want to attempt to discover new destinations and new experiences, which we'll hopefully get to tell you about closer to the winter. Expanding ASC's mission outside of Lapland has potential to make trips even more affordable and accessible to people for whom travelling to Lapland is difficult.

New cottage

This year we decided to move closer to the slopes, so that travelers have more flexibility, both in the afternoons when skiing and during the evenings. We're situated just minutes from the Levi's South Point slopes and an 8-minute drive from Levi's centre.

On top of that, the cottage has a bigger capacity, offering beds for up to 11 guests. While our groups will remain small and cozy (no more than 8 people), a bigger cottage allows to accommodate travelers who want to arrive early or leave late. This flexibility is especially useful for those arriving from places which are not connected to Lapland with daily flights.

Many travelers appreciated how full of experiences last year's trips were, but we could also see how exhausting (at times) the long days got. This year we wanted to leave more time to recover and rest by planning excursions in a more clever manner while offering more freedom to choose how long your days get.

Prices and Rovaniemi trip

While the busiest place in Lapland remains its capital Rovanemi, other places are growing in popularity too. Levi, where Arctic Ski Camp is traditionally organised, is also getting more expensive.

Accommodation is continuing to rise in price, ski tickets are expected to cost 5-10% more and don't let us get started on different excursions. It is difficult to find an Aurora hunt for less than €120!

As already mentioned, making skiing accessible for young people is the core of our mission. This year we had to try a bit harder to stay committed to that goal. Unfortunately, we still had to slightly rise the prices of the trips in order to remain viable.

Originally we organised excursions to Rovaniemi mainly because of the fantastic Arktikum museum that offers a comprehensive glance into Sámi culture and Arctic nature.

However, a full day trip to Rovaniemi proved to be the least viable component of our trips, unfortunately by far. We're still looking at ways of organising day-trips to Rovaniemi for those interested.

ASC's long term vision

While most of the changes will remain invisible for travelers, from the organisational perspective many things have changed which together ensure that daily operations support the long term vision and sustainability of the project.

Our top most priority is the comfort and safety of our guests, followed by keeping our mission and values alive long term. We started Arctic Ski Camp because we saw that there was no affordable way to ski with like-minded people. We wanted to bring skiers and snowboarders from different countries together in the most magical place we know.
